TML Collective: Ida Sofia creator of Evil Queen Candles

Evil Queen Candles

Ida Sofia, creator of the candle company Evil Queen; is showing the world how a one woman show can dominate and suceed in the ever-flourishing e-commerce space.  She’s a creator at heart; not only does she hand craft her candles after developing unique (and sassy) fragrances, she hand letters and designs her own labels, manages orders and shipping, oversees customer sevice, all while balancing the books.  Needless to say, every crucial role that plays a part in a small business’s success  is played by Ida.

Evil Queen candles smell divine (my favorite is Boss Babe) but the best part of all?  They are environmentally friendly made out of 100% soy wax, and fragrances free of chemicals, so you can enjoy your candles, worry free!

I was lucky enough to snag an interview with this inspiring boss babe, where she dishes on her career highlights, small business growing pains, and her favorite all natural beauty products.

Something Blue

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

Two weekends ago Josh and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary! We spent the day at the Shaky Knees Festival- shoutout to my little bro who pulled some strings to get us the tickets as a slightly delayed, but still greatly appreciated wedding gift 😃. That morning we ate our wedding cake topper (which was surprisingly still delicious after spending a year in the depths of our freezer) and sipped some bubbly before heading to the festival. If you haven’t been to Shaky Knees in Atlanta, I highly recommend it, we had a fantastic time!

No grit, No Pearl

pink bell sleeve top

When I saw this bell sleeve top on Zara’s website I got soo excited about the tiny pearl details and knew that I had to have it! I’ve always loved pearls, especially when I first laid eyes on Holly Golightly (hero) in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Speaking of pearls, one of my favorite mottos is “No Grit, No Pearl.” We all want to be the pretty shiny, beautiful pearl, but it takes hard work and a little elbow grease to get there, aka -the tiny bit of grit inside the oyster shell.

One of the best ways I keep up with meeting my goals and working my way through the grit is through utilizing and tackling my to do list. Without it I would be completely lost and pretty aimless when it comes to accomplishing my daily tasks and goals. Sometimes my list gets a little daunting and you are probably familiar with the felling, when your list has spilled into two columns vs. one and you run out of space and have to flip the page… it gives me anxiety just thinking about it. It’s an extremely normal feeling to feel overwhelmed and like you can’t keep up with it all! The tips below have helped me the most in terms of accomplishing my daily tasks that over time add up and have helped me to accomplish my bigger goals.

My Magical 48 Hours in New York City

48 hours in New York

Back in January Josh told me that he was going on a Bachelor party in April to Las Vegas for a weekend.

Instantly, I thought of all of the things I would accomplish in a weekend all to myself. I pictured myself cleaning the house, drinking wine, all while eating Annie’s Mac and Cheese out of the box. I was super pumped about the idea of being a recluse in my own home for three days!

But the more I thought about this weekend all to myself the more sad I became. Don’t get me wrong… I love to have time alone, it leaves me feeling energized and refreshed, but after a few days it gets pretty lonely.

I decided to reframe my thinking and realized that I needed to take advantage of the weekend and do something totally out of the box. Instantly I knew! I would visit my best friend, Marina who had recently moved to New York!

I only had 48 short hours to spare while in the big apple, but let me tell you, you can pack a lot into that time span in New York!

Summer Reading List

Cute Summer Outfit

Few things scream “summer” louder than a breezy off the shoulder top, which thank goodness summer time is right around the corner because I am in need of some delicious BBQ and a glass of rosé sangria!

One of my favorite summer time activities is sitting by the pool with a brand new book. I typically listen to audio books on my commute to and from work every day, and while I love that I have Audible as an option, there is something so wonderful about reading a physical book! I find it so funny that the phrase “summer reading” used to make me cringe as a kid. I’ve always had an obsession with reading, but there was always something so unappealing about being forced which books you had to read.

Bloom Where You are Planted

When life throws you lemons, throw them down the drain and run the garbage disposal… Or at least that’s what my mom always told me growing up when it came to house keeping and preventing the sink from smelling. Is there anything better than cleaning your home with a frozen pizza in the oven, and corny Hallmark movies waiting on the DVR?! Okay, you’re probably thinking I’m a psychopath… and maybe that’s the case, but the millions of copies of Kon-Mari books sold for a reason…

My Canadian Tuxedo

While I would say that “classic” is one of the words I would use to define my own personal style, I do believe that there are times in life where you have to take a little risk- and what better way to do so than with fashion!

Step to It

Crisp Spring Fashion

Finally!! A beautiful Saturday in Atlanta after a long spell of on again, off again dreariness. I was so pumped this past Saturday AM to finally wake up to a sunshine filled day.

The chances of whether I decide to exercise is extremely dependent on the conditions of the daily weather… Am I the only one in shock and awe as I pass folks on the road running through cold, damp, drizzly rain?! One of the things I miss most during the winter months is having the luxury of being able to run outdoors vs. on a treadmill- which to be honest, can feel a bit mundane. Running outside on a gorgeous breezy day with great music really invigorates my senses. On my run this past Saturday I really felt awake for the first time in a long time. Lately I’ve felt like a walking zombie with crazy brain fog. I was really going for it and starting to feel incredible on my run when all of a sudden a really weird feeling came over me…
